IGNOU Established in 1985 and headquartered in New Delhi, the Indira Gandhi National Open University, widely known as IGNOU, holds the distinction of being the largest university globally for distance and part-time education. IGNOU’s admission process operates in two cycles – January and July each year. Most courses at IGNOU offer direct admission, primarily based on the marks secured in the qualifying examination. For certain programs like B.Ed, B.Sc Nursing, M.Phil, and Ph.D., IGNOU conducts entrance examinations. ADMISSION PROCESS
IGNOU Admission Process Unveiled
Securing admission to various courses at IGNOU is a multifaceted process that hinges on factors such as eligibility and entrance exam/merit scores. The specific admission criteria vary for different programs within the university.
For courses like B.Sc Nursing, IGNOU administers the OPENNET entrance exam, and prior relevant experience is an additional prerequisite. Conversely, programs such as MA, M.Com, MCA, BA, and B.Com at IGNOU follow a merit-based admission system, with the evaluation relying on the candidate’s performance in the last qualifying examination.
Applying for IGNOU admissions is a hassle-free online affair. Prospective students can navigate to ignou.ac.in and opt for online registration. The subsequent steps involve completing the Online Admission System (OAS) page, furnishing requisite information, and attaching scanned copies of essential documents, including photographs, signatures, age proof, and academic certificates.
Once the application is submitted, IGNOU provides a user-friendly option for applicants to check their application status under the “Know Your Status” section. Additionally, students can opt for re-registration through a similar straightforward process.
For international students residing in India with valid student visas, IGNOU opens its doors. However, they must pay the applicable international fees and submit their applications on ignou.ac.in. It’s worth noting that programs with limited seats may not be available to foreign candidates.
RESULTS
IGNOU results are usually declared after 45 days of its term-end examination. IGNOU conducts exams twice a year in months of June and December. The IGNOU result carries several important details such as enrollment number, maximum marks, marks obtained, grades, course name, course coder, etc. Apart from TEE Results, IGNOU also publishes grade cards, Entrance Exam results, and On-Demand Exam results. Students can check and download their IGNOU results through the official website www.ignou.ac.in.
